Assistance Requested on Milwaukee - DC Trip
Guys -
I have purchased a "new" car in Milwaukee. It is a 1973 280CE (M110 with D-Jet), and a 5-speed. I have basically abandoned my attempt to turn my 250C into a 5-speed, deciding that it makes more sense to start with a car in better condition. Our own Mark Disilvestro, DrDKW, will be flying to Milwaukee on Tuesday September 21 to pick the car up and drive it back. Even though the owner assures me that the car is roadworthy, we all know that such trips can be adventurous. The route to the DC area is probably going to be I-94, I-90, I-76, and I-70. If you live close to these interstates in northern Illinois or Indiana, or southwest Pennsylvania, and would be willing to assist Mark if he has problems, please send me an email (ctaylor738@aol.com) with your contact info. Thanks, and I will keep you posted on how this deal works out.

South of Louisville here, but tell Mark that old rt.30 is a much better drive than toll road I-90 if he wants to see some country and escape the interstates. These days most state roads are high speed and the scenery is incomparable. Y'know twilight zone cafes, restaurants with cuties waiting tables who are genuinely glad to see new people, $25 motels, amazing farmers markets and flea markets - that sort of thing. I once drove rt.36 across Missouri and found a smokehouse with home-made jerky and smoked trout that was outrageous. LOL, what makes you think that Mark Disilvestro wont be driving all over the countryside for the entire week and stick you with an enormous fuel bill?
