Question Need a set of front springs from a W108 280 SEL 4.5 ltr

With the motor conversion in our '67 W108 250S, the original springs aren't enough to support the weight of the chevy 350 V8. We need a set of front springs from a W108 280 SEL 4.5 ltr to replace them with so the front end won't sag (which it is currently doing.... badly). Does anyone out there have a set of these they would like to part with? We would appreciate the assistance... we haven't been able to locate a set here in Oklahoma, and we need them BADLY, and SOON!!!

Thanks for the help! .

Ah, it's MunichTaxi who has the 108 4.5 parts car but no 4.5 - ask him and maybe he can help you? Those 4.5 springs are worthless to his much-ligher-engined 108's and would make them ride like an SUV!

W108 front springs

Yes, I do have a set of springs, but the car has the 6 cyl engine. Not sure if they are up the task of supporting the 'Heavy Chevy'.

I read that most V-8 conversions use the Ford 302, because the Chevy 350 is 150 lbs heavier.

So yours didn't have the 4.5 in it? If it has the straight 6, then it wouldn't help, cuz that is what was in the 250S before. The springs we need are from a 4.5L V8.

Thanks for the help

Well, still no luck in finding those springs... I called all those places and all they had were the springs for the straight 6 model.... So we're still looking, and would appreciate some more help......

Well, nevermind, I went ahead and bought brand new ones for it about five minutes ago, along with brand new subframe bushings. I got to thinking about it, and I was worried about getting a worn set that might already be showing signs of fatique from useage, and just felt it better to go ahead and buy new and not have any worries.....

Now, I have another question though.... what are the best shocks ot use on the 108? I have always been a KYB fan, and use KYB on all of my autos. I looked online and KYB does make a set for it.... but dunno if there is something better available? As always.. I appreciate the help!

Blstein comforts are the closest to orginal and someone here said their KYB's didn't handle nearly as well as the Bilsteins. Bilsteins cost a little more, but last longer and feel better.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply... I will check our local parts house and see what they have avail, and at what cost..... Considerig I just spent about $350 on springs and bushings, KYB might be the way to go for the moment....

Well, scratch that, I just called a local parts house that specializes in foreign cars (whom I've dealt with since the early 80's... great people), and talked to him about it. He no longer carries Bilstein (and had nothing good to say about them because of an incident he had with them) but said he does still carry Sachs, which is identical to Bilstein, but lest costly per shock. He went on to say he wouldn't even sell me KYB's for the car, although he carries them... said I'd be better off using wore out shocks than KYB's on it... lol! So ok, guess we'll pony up a few more bucks and go for the Sachs......
