108 Seat Removal

Would anyone know the trick to removing the front and rear seats in a 1972 280 SE 4.5?
I recently purchased a parts car with a nice interior and would like to swap it out with my driver. I removed the seat belt and rear mounting bolts on the driver seat, but can't figure out how the front disconnects.

Thanks,
Mark

Run seat forward, remove rear screws, then run seat back and down to clear the front screws. I don't remember exactly which position works best, but remember on the driver's side, there are two adjustments. The side lever runs the seat on a slanted track for height adjustment (plus for and aft movement) and the lower lever in front goes only back and forth. You must move the seat down with the side lever to expose the front screws.

Going back in is MUCH worse -- the seat spring want to cock the whole mess sideways, and clearance in front is pretty bad. Start the rear screws with the seat forward, then sit in it and force it back with your weight against the spring. While holding it back, you will have to use your legs to push it around so you can get the front screws started. Big hassle, but it can be done.

Take your time and don't crossthread the screws! They are soft, and I end up heaving the driver's seat in and out about seven times when I changed the seat covers.

Also, Thank you for always taking the time to help out the rest us that enjoy our classic cars on a shoestring budget! You've been an enormous help, not only with my situations, but with all the advice you've shared with others on this board.

For the rear seat, remove the 2 10mm nuts in the trunk, one on each side of the "wall" near the top or under the speakers (if equipt). Lean seat back foward and lift up, remove, the seat bottom pops out. Collect change, matchbooks, combs, bottle caps, Legos, and all of the goodies hiding under the seat....
