aussie 280 running costs/improvemnts this year

Hi from australia i just wanted to share with you some improvments that i have undertaken this year. The interesting thing is that none have related to any of the posts that i have had on here. Its amazing what happens when you have a mechanic who can see systematically the best way to keep a 1978 merc on the road. Anyway this year 2 services one at the start on to be done this friday. new front brakes. New front suspension bushes. New tyers. total cost including labour approx $2500.oo aus dollars. Not once though has the car let me down. I try to space costs out, this helps with a good indi and with the suspension and tyers the car is much safer for highway travel which is what its manly used for. The car has done 347,000 km and at this stage all is well. I watched recently the original cananball run film. i persoanlly would be up for it in a 6.9 450 sel. from Newyork to L.A i think it would be fun. Merry Christmas from Downunder.

I do the exact same thing as you with servicing for my car. In fact, my car is there at the moment (I should be picking it up tomorrow or Friday). I have also had new front brakes earlier in the year and new tyres this week. Considering my car does less than 6,000 kms each year it is not often that I need new brakes and tyres!

And speaking of improvements, I should be getting 16" AMGs on my '77 450 SE this week

Also, there are a few Aussies on this board, including myself that are also members of the local MB car clubs. I can highly recommend joining if you are not already a member.
