Some tips on interior finish?

The center console in my car is looking really bad. It has faded into a much lighter blue than the rest of the interior, and since the color is so uneven I guess the PO used some "miracle" stuff on it... What can I do to get it nice and shiny again? Paint it, wax it, I don't know.

Also, the wooden trim has a fine crackle all over. It still looks fine, but if there was an easy and safe way of getting a good shine, that would be a nice touch. I'd rather not do any sanding or stripping. Would furniture polish do it any good? Wax perhaps?

Any suggestions appreciated.
