Heater Fan Problem

My heater fan will not turn on at all. I am positive that all the levers are set for the defrost to be on, but the fan will not work at all. Any ideas to what I should check?
Thanks
Tim Bradfield

Dear Moron,
Since I'm lucky this morning since my sweet mother let me sleep in till 10:30, I will try to enlighten you. You most likely have a lot of leaves packed in there. I believe to get to it you must remove that chrome grill in front of the windshield, then dig out all the leaves. I'm glad you waited till it's 30 degrees outside to wait for this stuff which was against my advice in the summer...You never mentioned anything about this last night on the phone? I'm sure you remember, but a heater blower replacement is a 14 hour job, and that's if you know what you're doing.
Thanks
David

P.S.
Shouldn't you be in bed by 11:30? That seems late to me...

You know what David, I am tired of your lip. You will stop it. I looked in there and didnt see any, but I guess I will take it apart.

Thanks
Tim

Check the fuse, they may be originals and they crack with age....

Nice car, wish I'd traded with you!

Top left lever all the way to the left is full speed on the blower -- you should hear it click twice.

Hey Tim, you're ugly... :D Also, did it stop working after your play with all the underhood fuses and relays?
David

I see where this is going...

I know it is clogged with leaves now. When I went to turn on my car this morning I heard the fan try to kick on, but it sounded like it was stuck or something. I will clean it out as soon as it stops raining for a couple minutes. By the way, how do you take that grill/vent system off of the hood? Do you just remove the screws around it, and it will come off?

Thanks
Tim

When in doubt, pry harder. If it breaks, it needed replacing in the first place. BTW, where have you been Tim? I've tried calling the past couple days to no avail.
Thanks
David

P.S.
I don't know how to remove that chrome pice. I think the wiper arms have to come off though. I was just kidding about the pry thing, you never know what some people take literally.(for the archives)

Guys, I just put a CPU fan in my 108 in place of the original thoroughly dead blower motor. (Last Jan. I redid the interior controls and loosened up the frozen brass valves on the firewall.) NOW I have heat, yee-hah! Anyway, there should be my recent thread re: the fan and related tidbits.

Cowl removal: Pop the caps upwards on the wipers where they mount on the splined stubs and you will find a nut on each stub. Removes it and jiggle-pull the wiper straight up off the stub. Remove the cosmetic cover sleeve off the stubs too. Then remove the small phillips screws holding the aluminum grill to the cowl. Then remove the phillips screws inside the cowl holding it at the base of the windscreen (about 7 of these I think) and also the two phillips at each outer end of the cowlpiece. Lift up the cowl and set aside -- VIOLA, you can now peer under the solid sheetmetal and see/feel your blower motor.

Now if only the blower were as easy to replace... :D
Thanks
David
