Leaky power steering pump 250SE W108

I recently put a seal kit through my PS pump. It is a Vickers VT27 model. Today I noticed fluid on the garage floor and tracked the source of the leak from a port on the left hand side of the pump near the inlet hose union. This port looks like it has a small circular disc inside and a split pin to hold it in place. I am assuming this port is some sort of pressure relief outlet. Can this be easily adjusted or repaired?
I would appreciate your responses.
Regards,
Tassie Tiger

My mechanic rebuilt the PS pump on my 115 recently. He was sidelined because the seal kit came with the wrong size seal for the pressure relief port you are referring to. He knew from experience the if it wasn't exactly the right one, it will leak. The kits used to come with the right one but they misteriously changed. Took him a few days to track down the right one. I have an old Vickers but I'm not sure the number off the top of my head.

I'm glad he did it as I was contemplating doing it myself. I would have put the almost correct seal in and it would no doubt leak in short time. I think you will have to remove the pump and do it again. If you give me a day or two, I will look and see the model number on my pump, the seal kit part number and then the part number for the correct seal. If they are the same that should save you some legwork.

I haven't looked at the pump yet but the part number for the seal kit was 000 586 31 46. For the correct seal for the pressure relief valve, it was
000 997 44 82.

I hope this helps, if you are still there. . .

Tassie Tiger, I got your email. I think you sent it before I posted the above response. You can reply to the thread here, I'm sure someone else may benefit from the info. Let me know if those part numbers helped out any.

Steering pump 250SE W108

Thanks for your reply. The seal kit that I purchased was 000 586 55 46. It did not come with a pressure relief valve seal. I will quote the number you provided, obtain the seal and re-do the job.
Thanks,
Tassie Tiger

I hope you saved the old P/R valve seal. The kit you got was slightly different than mine, I hope it all works out.

Still haven't verified mine is a Vickers VT27. Will check tomorrow for sure.
