1957 220 question

Hi all,

A friend of mine has the above mentioned car for sale. 110k, decent paint, mechanically good with recent rebuilt brakes, runs and drives great, does need the headliner replaced which he has already bought but not installed, nice interior, huge sunroof with new material already installed, its got good paint [silver/blue], the body has no rust and he wants $4500. I'm a w123 diesel guy and know nothing about the gassers. Thanks for your opinions.

Cheers,
Bill

Here's an old post of mine that's applicable here.

Check out the Ponton Page, http://www.mbzponton.org/. You can read about your car for days there. Then when you're hooked, feel free to join the ponton discussion group at http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/ponton/. We've got about 350 ponton owners there. Great info and expertise available.

Len,

Just visited the site and, judging by some of the classifieds, sounds like $4500 is not a bad price for a car in decent condition. I think I will join!!

Thanks so much!

Cheers,
Bill

Rust is the killer on these cars. A bad engine can be fixed a lot cheaper than rusty sheet metal. Look closely at the underside. Somewhere on the Ponton Page is a buyer's checklist of things to look for before buying a ponton.
