6.3 Headlamps

Where can I find a set of flat single headlamps to replace the (in my opinion) less attractive dual bulbs that come standard on the 6.3?
And what is a good price to pay for them?

You can probably get new ones from MB Classic, but expect to pay around a grand or more.

Else, haunt eBay and your local MB recyclers, they turn up once in a while. Should run a couple hundred bucks, and will probably need new reflectors.

Those single bulb all glass ones are the Euro spec headlamps, used everywhere in the world except the US. There are also some Euro spec halogen setups that look exactly like the US ones but use an H4 bulb, I believe. These are popular in other parts of the world as they have more light output that the single bulb "standard" Euros.

RR3,
No 6.3 came from the factory with the Euro lights. Even German 6.3s came with the dual light set up. Are you aware that a very rareoption is also head light wipers? Hard to belive but true. Yes, I have seen such on a 6.3. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. All my 6.3s use Halogen bulbs with two lights on both the left and right. I've seen used Euro sets on EBAY for about 100 to 200$. ondition unknown.

The single-piece European-style headlights are incorrect on the 6.3.

You can purchase bolt-in uprated lamps from Hella for both the main and high beams that are far superior to the stock US lamps, but maintain the same appearance.

Do a Google search for Daniel Stern Lighting (I also think you can see them on the web at http://lighting.mbz.org) and you can order these from him. I believe the full set of four would be around $200. It's a great upgrade for the 6.3, or any US spec 108 or 109.

A 6.3 with the Euro light setup would not be desirable, in my opinion.

Cheers,
Gerry
