CD vs. book repair manual

Hi all,
Basically, I'm more the book kinda guy. I just don't see myself crawling around my car with a notebook on my lap. But I have seen manuals for the 108 go for $86 on ebay the last few days and would be willing to reconsider. Sofar, all I got is the chilton's, which I bought for 8.99, incl. shipping.
How do you do it?
Are the CDs worth it?

Thanks,
Fritz

I agree there's nothing like a book for scribbling in the margins, highlighting procedures and even stapling business cards of mechanics, machine shops, specialists and whatnot. Also helpful is writing down serial numbers and engine numbers inside front cover, useful for ordering parts.

Been working out of nothing but Chiltons all my life. Pages are falling out and entire books are grimed. What the hell can you do with a CD? And the scholarly factory manual is practically worthless for meat'n potatos work like replacing timing chains, adjusting valves, ignition timing etc..... but i'm not the smartest guy in the world and require low literacy Chiltons with lots of pictures with stuff like lube points and bolts important for tightening. Hell, most of the work is intuitive anyhow.

Another 'must have' is the parts catalogue with schematic break-downs of components.

Cult classic Vintage MB's are cars that litterally invite DIY diving under the hood.
