Unidentified plug in my 71 220

Working in engine bay tonight noticed a plug , 6 prong, that was disconnected. the female port was on the base of the coil. Anyone know what this might be for? I have a feeling that it may be related to the AC the the PO disconected sometime in her life, but not sure. Ideas?

The 114 chassis cars I've dealt with have a 6-pin plug near the coil for the starter wiring. It's a single harness that goes between the starter and neutral safety switch.

If your car has a 4-speed, perhaps this is just a dummy. Then again, perhaps somebody bypassed the original setup.

See if you can peek at the wires w/o doing too much damage. If they are violet, it's part of the system I described.

If you have the 114/115 chassis service manual, every wire in that car is laid out by following the harness ends.

Question Found another one

2 plugs have emerged in the engine bay, both are up by the coil

one has
red/black
Brown
Brown
Black

The other has
Violet/white
Black/white
Black
Purple
white

It looks like the later may be the nuetral saftey switch, as cth350 said, what about the other. Can I leave the nuetral saftey switch disconnected?
Thanks

You might be missing one of the speed relays for the emissions control. Those light brown wires, BTW, are ground by benz conventions.

You really want a 114 chassis manual, it will have all the wire looms laid out for you. -CTH

I got a wire diagram and the one 6 point plug is from the neutral saftey switch, it is simply disconnected. She starts so I guess I won't worry about it for now. The other one is still a mystery, I can't seem to locate it on the diagram
Red/blk stripe
Red
Brown
Brown
Black
It
is up by the fuse box, I can't really even find where it plugs in?
Ideas?

The only place i can remember off the top of my head on my 108 that has a plug like that is the heater blower fan. But I'm sure it has a ton of them elsewhere, I just dunno where.

well I got the fans working, i do have the interior apart so perhaps it may reveal itself once I put everything back together, then again maybe not. I used the wireing diagram but I just could not make heads or tails of it. Much like my anatomy classes when I was tracking nerve pathways

Do your reverse lights work? On the 108, the NSS controls them as well, so they may not function if the switch is disconnected.

yup ,the rebuild of the neutral safety switch fixed that problem. This plug does not seem to have a home, all things ,to this point seem to be working.
I did have an issue with the lights on the dash not working but I think this is a grounding issue?
Notice I said , I think....
