I have started my 73 280SEL 4.5 Restoration
As some may be aware, I had a rear end in my 73 280SEL 4.5 where an un-insured , un-licensed motorist hit me. Fortunatly the car (which was borrowed) was insured and they paid out. I just dropped the 4.5 into the body shop and am planning on documenting the restoration on the http://www.w108.org/gallery website as I did with my 6.9.
This should be as much fun as the last one. I will update the forum with progress as we move along.

Rust
fortunatly this car only has very light surface rust. It spent most of its life (up until about 6 months ago) in Houston TX and Dallas TX. I am pretty sure that if it was a rust bucket the trunk floor would have come apart and I would be wearing the number plates.
I plan on taking my first round of pictures on Monday.

Added more photos to the gallery
I have put my W108 restoration pictures up on a gallery. They think that they will have the base coat on by Wednesday and the car completed by the following Monday.
You can follow the pictures at the following link. http://www.w108.org/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=73-280SEL-Restoration-Pictures&page=1

I think it will come out better
I think it will come out better then the 6.9. The 6.9 needed some amount of welding to the floor, rocker and the wheelarch, rear panel. This car (although hit in the rear) is completely rust free. Even where I thought there was rust because I found bondo turned out to be a knock.
Keep your eyes peeled on the new 6.9 restoration that I am about to start. It will take a little longer then the other cars as I really need to recover my bank balance
