280se 1969 rumble

A couple of things have come up after collecting my Mercedes 280se in the western part of Denmark.

The linkages right up to the front of the manifold are not a tight a fit as when it left the factory so it has a habit of not wanting to go down to idle speed - fitting a new spring at the front helped as well as moving the rear spring at the back of the engine one notch up. Seems like it works - anyone have any advice on how to solve??

Another thing is the vibration that I get, probably from the jointed proprellor shaft, which gives this fine rumble when accelerating - it dissappears at speeds above 55mph/100kmh.

Otherwise it is a great move coming from a Fiat 850 Sport Coupoe from 1971 to a cruiser like the Merc.

Only thing I need now is a full set of leathers for the interior.

Can anybody give some input to above??

pretty ride and you have the ivory steering wheel!

Rumble could be the center bearing or the flex disk at the tranny-propeller shaft junction.

Anybody else notice that many photos of 108s make it look like the headlights are all askew??

Ivory wheel

Yep, I have the ivory steering wheel, and the metallic blue colour makes the car look stunning. Only minus with the car is a small buble in the paint in the trunk lid and that it has worn velour seats - would have preferred leather.

Thanks for the tip on the propollor shaft.

don't throw that velour away. Some parts of it should be salvagable. Would you settle for black tex until the leather show up? -cth
