Fintail Brake System 1962 220 Sb
I am in the process of putting on new brake hoses, and having a heck of a time removing the back passenger side, and looking at the brake lines, have decided that now might be a good time to just start replacing the brake lines since they look a little rusty - has anyone done this? The problem I have experienced so far, aside from the difficulty removing the threaded part at the end of the brake line, is that the old Bilstein point jack tore out the jack point on the driver side... little more rusty than I thought, but from talking to others, no one suggests using those on a 40 year old car, just use the conventional floor jack... any tips on replacing the brake lines would be appreciated (does any one have the sizes - length - of lines needed, also what type of line is best, etc.) I have the flange, cutter, and pipe bender tools, so don't think I will have any difficulties.

your best bet is to buy benz brake lines. They're only a little bit more pricey, but when you see them, you'll be glad. They have a special anti-rust coating, and they come the correct length to install. Those little metal clips where the rubber lines meet the metal are also inexpensive to replace. -CTH

I completely agree with CTH,go for the OEM ones.I replaced both rear ones, just because I stripped the connections. The numbers has 123 prefix,7 odd $ each.Nice antirust coating. In fact ,the old ones looked rusty, but it toook me about 6 twists to break one in two!Tough ones.Anyway,I`ll replace them all, they`re cheap.
