I need to brag. Get this one

About 9:00 AM I checked Craigs List on the internet (kind of a Lilnichol want ad online). I saw a new listing for a 1984 380sl, Gold with chocholate top, 6 cd changer and nice Sony stereo, chrome cast wheels, new tires and muffler system. The car has 169k with perfect paint and no rust. Has the original carpets and leather seats. Passenger seat has 2 in rip. The paint is perfect. The yop is like new. The lady said the high blue book was $22,000 but she thought that was wrong so she dropped a zero to 2,200.

Wait, did you buy this car for $2200? If so, I guess the Earlybird really DOES get the worm!

Double row timing chain

1984 was the first year for the double row timing chain in the aluminum alloy V-8's. You're off to a good start.

While $22K is probably 2-3X what it is worth with that kind of mileage, $2200 was certainly a bargain...still it seems fishy to me that anyone with this car to sell and half a brain would do this, so I would be suspicious of some hidden issues.

I once read a story about a woman who had a fight with her husband so she listed his prized MB 190SL in the paper for $2500 and sold it while he was at work. She told the buyer she was a widow and signed the title over to him. Needless to say the police got involved, the wife was charged with theft by deception and the buyer didn't get to keep his bargain...

Moral to the story...if it seems too good to be true it probably is...

Happy as a clam

I left my 450SLC at the ladies resturant and drove the the 84 380SL back to work. When I got off work, I drove it home. It ran great and very quiet. The stereo is excellent. My wife was real mad because this makes 4 of this type of Mercedes and all totaled, we have 10 vehicles and 15 motorcycles but when I drove in the driveway she had a big smile on her face. In the evening after my wife finished with the daycare kids, we went back to the resturant to pick up the 450SLC I had left there and to have dinner. The lady was not there but her husband was there and he smiled and greeted us so I don't think he was pissed that I got the car for a steel. I'm going to go through all of the history paper tonight.
