Zenith Update
Well I got the carbs rebuilt, and like the Zenith on my old Opel GT fixed several problems and created another.. I think that the reason the car was running poorley and stalling when warm was the fact that the front carb was loose.. The floatbowl to the throttle plate was able to twist when I removed the carb. The gasket is very thick, and I think it settled with age/ heat cycle.
At any rate car is now running will idle and run well but has a stumble when first accelerating. The plastic part of the accelartor pump on the rear carb was broken and I am not getting a good "squirt" off the rear carb. Does anyone know of a parts source for Zenith parts? I know of several SU folks but not Zeniths. Thanks Ron 71 250C |

Zenith Update
I looked at ebay yesterday, only saw one set in the buy it now section from a 68 but they were $300.00 hoping I don't have to spend that much.

Some of the rebuild kits include the accelerator pump piece. And you might be able to get one through a MB dealer if they have a parts guy willing to do some homework and try the Classic Center.

I did get the complete major kit, and it has the new rubber piston, the problem is with the plastic/metal capped piston body. It is cracked at the bottom and will allow gas to flow past before sufficent pressure to get a good "squirt" I checked a couple of parts suppliers and this piece is NLA.. I epoxied the part but of course the gas ate the epoxy up. Trying JB weld right now as it will survive in gas until I can find a used part/carb.

I have four parts carbs in the garage - maybe one of them has an intact pump. I will look tonight.

Chuck,
Thank you for the offer. I will be happy to buy a complete rear carb if you have one availalbe as I need parts for the vacuum throttle control as well (main body is there but all adjustable bolt/nut/spring parts are gone) basically what ever you are willing to part with. Thanks, Ron |

Your lucky day!
I have two rear carbs. I investigated the better-looking one. The idle diaphagm holds vacuum and the accelerator pump is in fine condition. It looks like this carb was drained when it came off because there is very little gas residue.
Anyway, send me an email (address is in my profile) and I'll tell you what's there and what's not and we can work out the details if you want the carb.
