MERCEDES 1962 190sl on ebay - great original car

search for item # 4637019980

Red with light tan interior -- reserve price of $25,000

Only 2 owners - First owner was a mother who purchased the car for her daughter who was a model. The daughter drove the car
for years between Wisconsin and California . The car has 106,000 original miles on it and is an unmolested original with working clock and optional Becker radio with the correct speakerbox. The only non-original part i can find on the car is the fuel pump . The engine was redone at around 50,000 miles. There are records of all work done on the car from 1962. The car is in very good mechanical condition and everything works well. This is a roadster and the top frame still has the original top on it! It will have to be replaced.
The body has recently just completed a $8,000 ++ restoration and paint job and the color is the orignal color. Very little work needed to be done to the body and frame . One frame section and one rear lower quarter panel were replaced. Several $1000's were. spent in rechroming the bumpers and other trim parts. The gas tank has been reconditioned and new fuel lines are also included with the car. The interior is original and will need to be redone .
The tires are brand new and have never seen the road . The current owner put a little over 2000 miles on this car during the last couple of summers.
The body alone is worth $15,000 and you could not duplicate this work on a rusted car for that price . Years ago the going rate to redo just the floors and frames on a rusted 190sl would cost an easy $20,000

Sure was. Strawberry red was used on the 190SL/300SL. Back then the factory would use any color, on special request.
