Hello to all,

Did not get much done this last weekend due to rain. I did get to the salvage yard and picked up a full set of alloy wheels 14X6 from an 81 300D for 100.00. The wheels were in very good shape some light brake dust but should clean up nicely. The great thing is the tires were nice and I got the centers and the full sets of lug bolts and a spare wheel and tire to boot! If that sounded good I got something better, A set of front non memory power seats from a 98 C280 in gray leather. Like I had mentioned from the start, I planed to use this as a daily driver, so I am going to use them. Some might say they wont fit, but I will fabricate the necessary brackets and mounting plate to install the seats on the existing mounts so as to not drill or cut the floor up. The controls are going to be the fun part as I will incorporate them on to the front of the seats. I worked as a prototype tech/fabricator for FoMoCo for several years, so my work will not be some hack job, plus I want to be able to reinstall the original front seats if desired. Besides these seat seemed a little more comfortable especially for the 75 mile a day commute

Regards,
Bryan

rear seat question..

Hey Bryan...

After reading about all the extensive INTERIOR work you have done, I figured YOU would be a good one to ask...

I have a 1969 MB 250 w114. The ENTIRE rear bench seat is currently UNATTACHED!!! How does this thing bolt down?? Is it from UNDER the entire car?? Inside the car??? Also, the BACK part of the rear is ONLY attached at the top (is THAT normal??)?

I don't have a clue!!!

Thanks...
~Christy

The rear seat bottom is held in place by 2 wedge shaped brackets that hook to the seat bottom. You can see where they were located if you look at the under side front edge of the seat, there will be 4 slots on both sides. Mine were not in that good of shape either. When the seat is installed it over hangs the the still plate by about 1 1/2 inch so I made 2 brackets that bolted to the top of the still plate. When you install the seat bottom it is screwed in at the under side of the seat. As for the back it is only held in by the 2 bolts that are accessed thru the trunk. the bottom is retained by the bottom wedged up against the bottom of the top seat. There are 2 bracket that are spot welded to the wheel wells that looks like the seat should bolt there but in the 3 cars I have seen there have been no bolts to hold it in place at this location.

Regards,
Bryan

Christy,

Yup, the upper half the back seat is held down by two bolts at the top. The lower half just sort of clips in. You start with it's front up at an angle and push down and in.

The fun part is not loosing the seat belts in the process or fishing them out afterwards.

this seat!!

Hey CTH!

THAT'S how this whole fiasco started...I was fishing for the seat belt and instead, I got an ENTIRE seat!!

I'll have to go and see if I can find these clips....wouldn't a NAIL GUN be easier???? (kidding!)
