Exploring 'Fintail Caverns'!

Well, it's almost mid-June, and the weather here in Northern Virginia is still unusually dry and comfortable. So I decided it was time to patch a couple more of Miss Daisy's rust holes, before the dog-days arrive with a vengeance. Especially annoying was the large hole inside the top of the left rear wheel well, caused by several decades of drainage INSIDE the fender, from the trunk hinge pocket. At any speed above about 15 mph, a howling wind noise would resonate from the cavity and disturb my otherwise serene journey. While I was in there, I also patched the ugly gaping hole inside the wheelwell that exposed the rear end of the rocker cavity, so I won't have to look at that anymore. Finshed up early enough to take my first long springtime jaunt out to Mikes place in Centerville. He has a solid '65 220S, but he wanted to test-drive my '60 version. He was quite amazed with the smootheness and refinement of my rusty Fintail. (especialy without that howling noise!)
Some new motor mounts for Mike's Fintail should restore some of the smoothness that he enjoyed in mine.

Happy Motoring, Mark
