75 240D automatic transmission problems
Hi! This is my first time posting . . . I looked around for the answer to my question for a while but have been unsuccessful. My 75 240D 115 chassis doesn't shift into 3rd gear. This is obviously the main concern I have with the car and was wondering if anybody knew what to do. I have been unable to locate diagrams of my engine and tranny so I am not sure if it is a vacuum line problem or what. Any help would be appreciated.

Andrew, have you searched through the diesel section?
The vacuum systems in both my W115's were a mess when I got them. I am not sure if the transmission is vacuum assisted though. So is the maximum speed ~40mph currently? Also check your email. |

Hi Andrew;
A friend and I just pulled the engine and tranny out of a '76 300D. I don't recall any vacumm lines, but there was a solid linkage rod on the passenger side of the engine going back to the transmission. Check out the following link for an on-line 115 manual archive. Good luck. Drew http://mb.braingears.com/114_115_Disk1/program/matrix6.htm |

Parting 76 300d in Seattle
Hello,
I am transplanting a 300 to my 240. I have a well behaved 300d automatic from a 76'. I am located just North of Seattle. I don't want anything for it, I will ship it at your expense. Glen |

Thanks for the help guys
Hopefully I will get this problem under control. I am thinking that it is actually a combo of problems because my brakes are very stiff and the engine does not want to stop when I turn it off. Thanks Again!! I love this site by the way.

Oil change
I'm doing an oil change first. The oil was in bad shape . . . and it stains deeply. But no problems so far. Car cruises at 35 ok but the max I would push it is probably 40.
