220 seb turn signal issue
I am at my wits end on this problem and hope someone can provide some insight.
We have a 1965 220 seb and I have been unable to get the turn signal to operate correctly. I have three signal switches and the same problem occurs with all three. All lights are operational front and back. I have determined the following: Terminal positions are described as if the switch is laying flat with the lever on the left as you look down. The black/green/white wire is the hot wire and must be attached to bottom left terminal; the black/green wire is connected to the right turn signal light; the black/whitewire is connected to the left turn signal light; the white/pink stripe and black/blue/white wire do not appear to have any affect on the swith. With the black/green/white attached to the bottom left terminal and the black/green attached to the bottom right terminal the right signal light is activated when the lever is raised for a right turn. This is true whether the remaining wires are connected or not. If I switch the black/green with the black/white on the same terminal and raise the lever for a right turn, the left turn signal light is activated and blinks normally. If I lower the lever for a left turn, nothing happens. If the connect the black/green to the bottom right and the black/white to the next immediate terminal and raise the lever (right turn position) the right turn signal activates and works properly; if I then lower (left turn position) nothing happens. It does not matter how I configure the remaining white/pink and black/blue/white wires. If the connect the black/green/white to any other terminal the swith does not work at all. If I connect both the black/green and black/white to the same terminal both indicators light up but no blinking. Using my multitestor for connectivity on the switch confirms the results I get when I connect everything together. Also, the voltmeter confirms only the black/green/white with any voltage. I have the same results with all three switches so my question is does the 1965 220seb have two hot wires one for each side or have I just beat the odds and located three bad switches. Any info is greatly appreciated as I have exhausted my limited electrical troubleshooting knowledge. Thanks in advance. Hank |

With a car that old, I would check all the grounds and the wiring relating to the turn signals.
Back in the late 70's, I had a 220SEb and it wouldn't start one day. The starter solonoid wire was broken inside the harness. I added a new wire and it started just fine. This happened in a parking lot, SEARS was close by and I was able to buy wire, cutters and pliars.
