79 6.9 temp guage
All when I cleaned out my fuel injectors I must have disturbed the wiring that leads from the engine to the tempreture guage. Since then I have lost my temp and this has made me very uncomfortable about driving my 6.9 (which I hardly have). There seems to be a wiring harness that runs from the thermostat to the temp bulkhead that houses a bunch of wires. Before I get stuck in, I would be grateful if someone can help me with the following questions:
Look forward to hearing from you.

Sorry I don't have my car with me but does the temp gauge go directly into the A/C servo?

The sensor is a single pole all the way to the back of the right (driving direction) cylinder head. My temp guage was jumping, not moving smoothly and I popped the connector and gave it a good cleaning and it worked fine.
It's near the thermo time switch that comes off the same harness as 212 switch (at thermostat housing) and the other CIS stuff (WUR, etc) I think thermo time switch is two poles and it is part of what tells cold start valve to come on. My connector clips and wire sheathing are are crispy. Broken insulation around the wires themselves, too. I am going to look into having somebody fab up some replacement CIS harnesses just for grins. Uh... and I guess I could check the dealer, but I am almost afraid to open that can of worms. I reckon a CIS harness is the same for any 116 v-8. RIGHT? |
