Catalog G #s

Second post.
I have a 1979 300 SD and a 'catalog G' from MB. Catalog is missing the first few pages that I assume discribe how to use the data. How do you decode the #'s on the page?
Example: page # 191 has a fuel tank and assoc. parts. lower left margin 041. lower right margin page # and 02.78. Upper right 47/5. And all the #'s on the parts.
Can someone explain these #'s as this catalog is for several MB modles. Is there a method of discerning what pages relate to my car?
I would like to use the pictures as a guide when searching for a part on the old Lady. Past owners were 'creative'.

Considering that you want to use the pictures to search for parts on the car, have you tried using a web site that was posted here several months ago by someone else:

Yes but it is limited.
There must be a purpose for the catalog G.

The purpose is to be able to communicate with the parts guys to see if you are talking about the same part. The "47/5" numbers generally correlate to their catalogs. So you can say to them on the phone "I need a #57 on 47/5."

I've also found them useful for visualizing how things work.

What catalogue

Interesting -
I have a glove compartment-type (5" x 8.5") parts book for Type 230/280E-240D/300D MOD 123 Catalog "G" dated 11/79, but the page numbers for the group do not agree - The Catalog editions designate an update, stared with "A", "B", etc - and include add-on changes, mods to parts, new equipment, etc, so your "G" os pretty far along the series.
For instance, my page 191 is only group 35/3, so my "G" must cover more models than does yours; my 47/5 is of the A/C cooling sleeve mod to the M110 CIS fuel supply line, but I have two tanks illustrations - 47/1 which looks to possibly be a 240's or 300's, and 47/3 which looks to be a 230 or 280E's.
Perhaps you have to reference what parts catalog edition you have -
The upper RH corner of mine is PC 007, PC 009, PC 037, PC 167 and PC 283.
There's probably a printing which only covers 240D/300D, for instance - maybe three of the above four numbers.
The Group and illustration number usually agrees, up to a point, between editions, for instance, 47's are fuel systems, 49 exhausts, etc.
If you'll email me, I'll reply with the front directions pages from mine, which I can scan in. Not sure, however, if the EPC guys can even translate the old book and page numbers anymore. Try looking for part numbers on the Russian site - http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb0.asp?TP=1
This parts book is not to be confused with a large (8" x 11") parts book which includes the part numbers - and beware when buying off eBay lots of folks loosely use the term "parts listing" for the pics-only glovebox version.

Happy hunting,
Stan

Thanks Stan.
I found another copy and now have the missing pages.
Still confussed on the #ing. Example: page 197 can only be an exhaust from a 300SD. In typical MB form, some other # on this page should carry on to all 300Sd parts in this book. ?????????????????
