Didn't know these came with 5-speeds. According to the speedo, it's a 4, too.
Edit: It also says "Model Code W 114 V 25 Model Family W114" When it's clearly a 108.

5 Speeds
I believe 5 speeds manuals were an option back then. I think they probably retro fitted one when they restored the car. I like the simplicity of the vehicle plus it's one of my all time favourite 108 color combos. Would make a beautiful highway cruiser.

I'd like to hear how far this restoration went. In fact they leave a disclaimer saying it's original, subject to normal wear and tear of previous owner.
And does anybody believe this: "We bought this vehicle as a show piece during our new car vehicle launch events" ?? From what I've seen of dealerships they hate Vintage MB's kicking around in their lot. I was once told by a salesman to move my 240D so it couldnt be seen from the showroom when picking up parts back East several years ago. Hell, the reason they're selling on ebay is probly because its gotta go and none of the salesmen want anything to do with it. They just want to unload the car anonymously to somebody out of town. Betcha they keep it behind the fence. Not that there's anything wrong with the car, you understand, but I'd sure as hell ask em if it's had cyl head and valve work - typically needed by the 6cyl m180, m130 and m110 engines at/near 147k miles. |

Nearly every dealer I've been to the staff love to see older MB's. I do my best to have a very presentable car- and when older ones with high milage look great it's a selling tool. I'd bet a nickel that they did use this as a promo item.

Yeah but according to the checklist its an old repaint with "some environmental water marks" in good to average condition, some rust, zero warranty and caution against "wearable parts" needing attention in the future. Probly the loosest use of the word "restored" we've ever seen.

Well, the market spoke, and it went unsold at $3650. That seems a bit on the low side to me, but not insulting. Did anyone ever find out what the reserve was?
