Removing hood star?
 

Allght, the truck just took a transmission ****, and I'll be driving the benz as a DD for a while... Dammit...

To prevent theft, I'd like to remove the hood star. Problem is, that I dont know how.

76 300D, hood star needs to go away for a while. I leave for work in an hour or so, and need to take it.

There is a large locking sliding retainer on the inside of the hood. This slides to one side and has an elongated slot which pops off the ornament. There should also be a locking screw (either phillips head or I believe an eight m.m. hex head) which is accessed through a hole in the inside back of the front hood cross brace.

It's easier to do it than explain. Go try it.
