220d stick to aut0 conversion

Note: Title is worng... I wondering about ptting a manual in to an auto.

Would it be possible to switch a manual from a 74 240d in to a 71 220d? What is involved? Is it cut some holes and bolt up or does the bell housing not match?
Thanks
Steve

Both cars are 115's so should bolt up. You will also need the driveshaft, flywheel, and complete hydraulics and pedal assembly from the donor car. Plus the entire shift linkage including the console.

Personally i would not attempt it unless it was a side-by-side with a complete donor car alongside the recipient.
