My '72's Gone to its new home...
After all the fun I had fixing it up, my '72 280SEL 4.5 was picked up by its new owner last night. I learned a lot working on it over the past 2 years...mostly what not to do from undoing what was done by the prior owner's techs
Anyway, thanks to all who contributed answers to my posts. I lost money on the car, a considerable amount of money, but it could have been far worse had I not had the expert advice of people on this board. I can say with 100% honesty that the car never ran or drove better during my ownership than it did last night and I am glad the guy who bought it said "I had originally bought it to drive it daily but it is too nice for that so it will be another weekend cruiser". I even had second thoughts about selling it to him initially because he told me his plans to turn it into a daily driver, but I am glad he reconsidered...it really was too nice to ruin like that. I was fully prepared to keep it had he expressed any hesitation about buying it, but he didn't and emailed me late last night to tell me how nicely it ran all the way back to his home, about an hour or so from me. Anyway, thanks again, and check out my post in the parts for sale area for some goodies I had leftover from the project including a nice vintage Stereo Becker Mexico casette deck, still in the box from Becker Service.
