Today was a great day for restoring 114's.

Through the good offices of DrDKW, I was given a 1969 280S Euro model with a 4 speed that I have every reason to believe will go in the 250C to cure my transmission problems. It arrived on a flatbed from Alexandria VA and is now in the garage, much to Senior Management's distress. It is filthy dirty and rusty, but complete, with good chrome and glass, decent interior, four tires that hold air, and an engine rumored to have been rebuilt recently. It had a hornets' nest under the fuel filler door.

The plan is to try to get it running (needs a coil and a battery) then pull the clutch/trans and part the rest.

Thanks to DrDKW for the assist!

I know that I have a lot of work ahead of me to switch the transmissions, clutch hydraulics, etc., but I do have the two cars side-by-side, so it should not be a brain-wracker.

what part of the world are you in?

Before you start pulling parts, check out your drive shaft.
The connections are completely different

Chuck,
Before you panic, it's possible to modify, swap ends, lengthen or shorten driveshafts. Purists may wince but several years ago, I had Virginia Driveline in Newington rebuild my
1972 250 driveshaft. They cut off the end with the bad 'permanent' U-joint,
welded on new yokes with a replaceable and greaseable Chevy U-joint, installed my new center bearing and balanced the whole shaft for about half of the dealers price for a new front shaft with U-joint.
So, is your 280S parts car all you
expected and dreamed of? Will your 250 be 'Tearing up those Twisty Roads' before Christys does? I'll be in Virginia Beach for a week but when I get back, I'll take my DKW out to do a little springtime 'Mosquito-Fogging'!
Happy Motoring, Mark (DrDKW)

Road Trip!

If you get it runing, take it for a spin.
At 241 miles, you can reach pittsburgh and help Christy.
Then again, if she's first, she can make it down your way.
