ATF 70 280se

Went out to check trans fluid after reading a thread on site. Read 1 pint low ,manual says use ATF, went to garage and have several types of ATF,what type should I use?

A dexron/mercon blend works well in these older autos.

And in case you dont know this already: cold reading is always low at bottom of the stick. Something that happens to everybody at least once - they overfill based on topping off the cold reading. Fluid will expand and read at top of the stick when hot.

Best for the older trannies is Dextron 2 , if you can find it..
