transmisssion "flair" 70 280se

Have a nice mercedes with only one problem, in third gear engine flairs (slips) as engine increases rpm. Fluid has been changed and maintained properly, useage has always been light duty. This has been going on for a while and am always hoping it will diseappear. Is there an adjustment or any other course of action other than a new transmision? 150000 miles but the car is otherwise like brand new.

Doesn't feel like there is an easy solution to this dilemma. Does anyone have an idea how long I might have before a catastrophy occurs? I would love to put a new exhaust and tires on the old girl but if she is on her way out I better start looking for a new trans.

Modulator replacement & OR adjustment is a good possibility.

re;flair

Would modulator diaphram replacement be the right direction or a new modulator valve? Would a transmission shop be likely to know how to adjust? I have parts / shop manuals but they omit auto trans internals.
