Help! How to remove flasher from dash (1968 220)?

Hey:

I found the flasher relay (bad) and am stumped as to how to get the dadblasted knob off of it so I can remove it from the dash. In fact, I pulled really hard on it and the plastic shaft inside the hollow metal switch actuator broke off way down inside the relay.

So...on one hand, I got it out of the dash, but now my knob is attached to a broken metal stump. How do I get it off to put onto the new flasher relay? And how was I supposed to have removed it?

Please help me, somebody.

Happy New Year!

Is this the rubber knob with a chrome ring and then a red center? Try gently rolling the rim off the center circular cap. It looks like it's all one piece but the center cap is separate. Then you will find a nut underneath - same principle as the round knob that adjusts corner vent windows.

Talking

Hey, 240Dog...I just put a pair of pliers onto the shaft, and another on the knob. Turns out it does just unscrew off the shaft. Guess I know now.

In the meantime, I have Frankensteined a $2.50 generic flasher into the circuit, so now I have turn signals at least. I'm gonna order the official part ASAP.

Thanks for the tip...and happy new year!

MC
