The value of a 79 6.9 sdl with 70k

Its mileage would need to be verified . Whats the estimated value if this car if it has 70k on the odometer?

Common, tell us more

You remind me of the typical car/truck buyer who wants to know over the phone what his vehicle is worth. One answer was, run it past the telephone a couple of times so we can get a look at it. It could be a wreck and have way less then 70,000 miles on it.

How about only posting this once instead of in every forum?

I saw that car this morning - see my response:

That's not an SDL, but an SEL. 450SEL 6.9 to be exact. Euro headlights, and it LOOKS like euro bumpers that have been painted black for some reason. 2 crummy pics, no shot of the hood's paint, no shot of the sides or rockers. "Driven by daughter of car salesman" must mean the guy selling it is the car salesman. Look out!

I saw it this morning. It's an American version with front/rear heated seats, no repaint, little rust, rough idling engine, interior with some issues. 67,000 miles? Possibly - you'd have to get it on a lift to confirm that. No records, bought by dealer at auction.

Worth $1900? He'd take $1500. Worth $1500? To many people, yes, but I always search out low-mileage, high-quality original MBs. This one has two out of three.

Just from the price it sound like a parts car. A rough idle can mean vacuum leaks or head gasket problems. Either way, BIG bucks for an M100 powered car.

I said it had euro headlights and bumpers - not that it was a euro car. But I didn't know US-spec 6.9's had heated seats?

I was talking about this ad here:

http://austin.craigslist.org/car/270133964.html

100% American - no Euro bumpers, Euro headlights only. I saw the car yesterday morning. Heated seats were an option, usually front only. This one has front/rear heated. Do they work? Don't know. It would be a good parts car for the money.

15 inch bundt wheels on that heap??? Can't tell from the pictures. If so, the wheels would be worth a few bucks to a 123/126 enthusiast.

Forget what cosmetic goodies are attached to the car, as they can be changed. Look at the radiator support and the door frame for an importer's sticker. If it's there, then it's a grey market car, and that means the speedometer was changed by the importer, and that milage is since the import.

If the car runs and the suspension works and it passes an emissions test AND safety inspection and it's not a rusty heap, it's more than worth the money.

As for rust, don't presume that it doesn't have any just because it's in TX. If it is a grey market car, it could have spent 10 years in europe setting it up for major rust now.

Looks pretty solid to me

I don't know, it looks pretty solid to me. I think it may make a decent project car if no one has gone in there and molested it.

Well I didnt want to say anything because I might get in trouble with you MB crowd, but I just picked up this:

I think the next MB that I buy will either be a 6.3 or a W113.
