Replacement fuses
 

It's me again! (lol)
I have been told by a few that I should change my fuses, and clean the connections.
Well, at looking at the fuses, they all seem to be intact (non broken) but they also look very brittle!
I am worried if i try to take one out so that I can take it to Canadian tire (automotive store) it may break, and then my luck is that they wouldnt have any replacements! ( so i would be SOL!)
any tips here?

I doubt that you will be able to find them at a retailer. I have had no luck in the US.

There is a bunch of sites online that sell the right ones for cheap. You may want to order some other parts for the car to cover shipping charges. I would recommend oil filters and brake pads if you don't need anything else at this time.

The connections may be intact at this time, but the oxidation can cause problems later if you bump them or fry one. Make sure you buy extras.

And something basic you probly know already but worth mentioning anyhow is when you go about pulling and replacing fuses, small needle nose pliers is the way to go. With fingers alone you will be dropping em and messing up the fragile fuse caps.

www.**************.com sells brass fuses, he recomends them over the aluminum ones you probably have right now.

I was able to get the brass ones right off the shelf at the local Kragen, they label them as european style fuses, same as used in Volvo's and such. I bought 10 of each type (8A and 16A) so I could change all of mine and have some spares for the glove box. Be sure to clean the contacts in the fuse box and use a light coating of dielectric grease when installing the new ones to help avoid future corrsion.
