Can anyone tell me....
I have '68 280 SE/8 with the MFI 6 (130....). I just did a bunch of head work and have her all assembled and running well. When we purchased the car a few months ago, it had just had it's oil changed, so I haven't changed it yet and so I don't have a part number to replace the filter. I am thinking one of you could help me out so I don't have to take it off and look at it to find out, without having one in hand...
I know this is a very minor thing, yet it would be greatly appreciated!  Basil

Mr. Basil, glad all has gone well so far. Anyways the oil filter has kind of a universal application number of A6002-1184 it seems. Cheap as well in either mahle or hengst brands. You could even try your locale auto parts place although it would probably take a day or two for thenm to supply. Many vendors on the web have them. Just dial in mercedes oil filter and you should be swamped with info. Or perhaps even mercedesshop parts on this site has them. Your normal supplier of filters should be able to refference your oil filter this far back. My guess is same filter used on all 130 blocks until production was ceased at end of 1972.
