My Temp gauge on the 280 runs pass the 175 mark, to just passed the line before the 220 mark
Is this normal? Or should it run cooler. Readings taken at ambient air 90 a/c on 75 MPH Regards Bryan |

Sounds high to me 175 is middle of the gauge delfection where cars usually run.
Mine is pretty stable at just above the 175 mark. 1969 230/8 M180.954 no air, standard, 75mph, 70 deg ambient actually just above or below that mark is the range through any speed range so far. Mark |

Look between the radiator and the A/C cooling fins. There is probably lots of junk there. Clean it out. Then, take a garden hose with a spray nozzle and clean out all the dirt between the fins on the radiators.
As the car warms up, you can see where the thermostat opens up. The correct behavior should be for the temprature to rise to that point, drop a little, and then rise again to hover just at or above the opening point. The less efficient the cooling system, the higher above opening it will go. -CTH |
