Oil Filter Re-Installation W108 4.5 V8
Hi, I'm having trouble re-installing the Oil Filter on my 1972 280 SE 4.5 V8. Is there a trick and/or special tool to hold the Canister in place???

I had the same problem...
and i had forgot to remove the old O-ring. Needless to say, it won't fit well with 2 O-rings in place.

There's only 1 issue I can think of... is the filter in backwards? The narrow-ring end goes in the container, the wider end sticking out to go over the oil return line.

Hi, Thanks for sharing and the recommendations. The new Oilf filter is still bolted on and appears to have stop dripping.. This is a very Bad design.

Hm, I've never had trouble getting it on nor having it drip. You did put on a new o-ring, and you did wipe off the surface on both ends correct?
