Stan,
If it's an automatic trans. the switch is built into the neutral/saftey sw. If it's manual trans, it will ba on top of the trans. Bill Lewallen:Lexington,Ky. Place of fast horses and dumb asses... |

I've looked all over there is no switch at the trans. linkage the only switch I've found is under the hood connected to the shifter and all I can that it does is a safety starter lockout switch

back-up light switch
Stan, if this is any help, my 1970 280SE manual has the back-up light switch, a momentary push button located under the shifter boot. When you change into reverse it pushes on the switch and closes the light circuit. Real simple but effective.
Good luck! bobgriff 1970 280SE |

If you car has the little plastic box on the firewall who's switch is activated via a bowden cable, then you are looking at a multi-function switch (or at least it's supposed to be), with 2 pairs of wires.
1 pair for reverse lights 1 pair for netural/safety On the more modern transmissions, that functionality is directly attached to the shift valve on the transmission. -CTH |
