What's the normal engine vacuum for a 71 280 se 3.5?
Mine reads 15 in Hg at the brake booster line. I checked valves, dwell, ignition timing and CO level. The car runs fine , is this anything to worry about? |

Not having an assembled & running 3.5 car at the moment. I can't give you a number. BUT, if you're measuring at the booster's connection point, you're going through a hose & a check valve.
Also, you are measuring near were the manifold pressure sensor is connected, sort of. Since the fuel injection system is VERY sensitive to vacuum leaks, which is what I presume you are looking for, check all four vacuum lines back there carefully (brakes, central locking, trans, sensor). Of course, 3 out of four of those are almost impossible to see and handle. -CTH |
