Location of hand primer pump on 1976 300D (W115)

Can someone tell me where the hand primer pump on a 1976 300D (W115 Chassis) is located?

Mine in attached to the large fuel filter, but because I'm having so much trouble locating a replacement part, I am wondering if this is modification was made to the vehicle before I got it.

Primer pump

It's on the side of the injector pump, driver's side, forward.

Either a knurled knob you unscrew (old) or a pushbutton (new) that reminds me of an old floor mounted headlight dimmer switch.

A 115 300D has a little disc style primer pump located next to the (old style) main fuel filter. It is not a modification, it came that way.

Palangi's right for the old stype pumps. My 300D is a rebuilt motor so it has it where the rest are hanging on the side of the IP.

Interesting, all my W115 220Ds had the one I described above. Same as my W123 240Ds and 300Ds.

Never did find it on either of my OM603s.

Do I treat this "rare" hand primer pump any different

Thank you all, I just didn't know if this was stock or a modification.

Should I treat this "rare" hand primer any differently because I suspect it may be causing an air leak? If I have to replace it, do I want keep this style or is there a way to switch to the normal style?

I am not familiar how to change it. Isn't the IP mount still on the side of the IP?

Is there resistance when pumping?

I have an extra pump assembly with updated pump from a 1979 240D but I am not sure if it would fit.

Pump is mounted onside of fuel filter

and not the ip pump.

I did get to see another 1976 that the owner had removed this pump, but there wasn't time to see/figure out how it all was done.

So I think the answer is not "update" rather than replace with like original equipment.

Have you checked with the dealer for availability and price?

It might not be that expensive if it's still available. Not sure if you could find a good used one. Not many 115 300D's being parted out these days.
