you will want the metering rods for the 67 pontiac sprint.

they are drastically different from the typical large v8 application. they actually offer a very rich (by comparison) mixture compared to the ones for a cadillac 500 ci engine. at first this made no sense to me but on thinking i decided it was because the larger engine offers vast amounts of suction and the little motor sucks less. and less suction means you need a richer mix to get the correct 1 to 14 or so ratio.

i would say yes.

don't worry, it will work fine as long as you dont open up the secondaries til about three thousand rpm. if you do it will bog down, that is all.

Go with the Zenith

I would go with the zenith 2 bbl, There is one from the benz/unimog that may be direct bolt on, But I like the 28ada10 Theese zeniths have removable venturis and you can also get adjustable main jets--like the retro stromberg 97 and holly 94 has, cept you get them straight from Zenith dealers, by having from 23-34 mm venturi'z -kinda like a weber or dellorto sidedraft-you can make one work on damn near anything. plus you can find nos ones fairly easy. The mog, porsche,vw 2bbl might have replacable venturi's but those are german zeniths.

Yup, still around. I don't know how "active" I am but the air is still going in and out.

The carb is still in place and I've been running it for almost two years now. No problems and it sails through emissions. It's a cold natured bugger in the morning but mainly because I never hooked up the choke. After about a minute of idling/low throttle use it's fine.

The old Autolite 4100 4 barrel looks like an interesting canidate for the M110, it's stone axe reliable and available in a veriety of CFM ratings and is a vacuum secondary carb. And it's period correct. Sorta.

I'm not much of a fan of the Holley carbs. The Autolite is a much better choice. However I think that the Q Jet is by far the best for the application.

Agree re: q-jet. Tuning it and the choke not fitting have kept me from trying it. And also finding one not butchered up or needing a bunch of fixing, that seems to be a trick these days.

Hey, if the solex had a water choke heater, can't you just use a q-jet (or whatever) with the same type of wet choke heater instead of plugging the lines up? These were very common on all carbs, my olds wagon had a qjet with a water choke. It worked much better than my caddy did with the same carb and the older air heated choke.

Nope. The Q-jet is wider up top than the original Solex.
