Car Transport Suggestions

OK not MB ,but important and I am sure some of you have used a transport company, need to move a late 50's Rolls Royce - near mint condition, from Palm Springs Calf to Central KY, suggestions?
I have been asked to be the sales person for this family car, I just feel I need to see it in order to sell it.
Heck , I might buy it
Evidently has all the records and has quite a history of owners, including several movie stars..........

If all you're doing is selling it. It's cheaper for you to visit the car rather than risk it during transport. Since you're doing it for the family, let the sale finance your cheap round trip tix to CA and the motel. Be sure to spend a day or two in the pick-and-pull yards. -CTH

I've used InterCity twice now - very, very professional. A scratch to those guys would mean disaster to them; they baby their cars and their clients.

Specialty Haulers is what they're called, truckers that specialize in museum art etc. Can recommend one named David Beatty out of Oregon. David works the California classic car circuit, car shows etc. He can be reached at 503-358-0544. Tell him the guy who bought the Moto Guzzi motorcycle referred you.

Otherwise I've been located in Reno Nevada these past few months and will be happy to drive the Rolls back home to Kentucky myself.

Yep sudden situation with the family pulled me out to Reno. It aint bad and I left the Benz at home so bought myself a vintage Moto Guzzi for local transportation, takin advantage of west coast classic vehicle market:

If all else fails then gimme a call at 775-636-5735. You cover gasoline and cheap motel lodging for couple of nights and I'll deliver the Rolls Royce.

nice ride, I don't do motorcycles, I would llike to but I have had to rehab too many that have come off of them, so far $1600-$1800 on an enclosed transport with insurance, folks have been really nice and are very upfront, I think that is pretty reasonable. Will post a picture when I get some this weekend.
Right now I am thinking I may want to reinstall the AC in ol LIbby, hot as blazes here and even with all the windows down, since I don't get her much over 55 , stays hot inside.
Keep an eye open for a nice fixer upper finny out there for me would ya
Later

well an update as promissed, its not a 50's it a 1965 Silver Cloud III, with 40K on a rebuilt engine. Was onced owned by the guy that played the Fugitive on TV. I am having the car shipped , should be in my possestion in 10 days or so. I have the paperwork and service history on this ol gal. probably 12K spent over the last 5 years. Only driven 5000 miles during that time, most of what has been serviced appears to be related to low use and age, rubber, ac, carb adj, replacing of leaking lines, but also major work done like cosmetic repair ( missing latch) buffed paint, new shocks, steering box, new ac system , ect. Can't wait to see it. Since you guys were so good pointing me to the right transport, where do I market it and who might be interested. I tried a rolls forum but never got any answers.
Thanks

Selling Rollers.

Focused marketing is ABSOLUTELY the right thing with cars like these.

I have a friend out here who bought a '89, maybe I can ask him about where the buyers congregate. Fans of these are a pretty closed and inbred group

Certainly Hemming's Motor News is a well respected publication that deals with all kinds of clasic cars, and are online now.

Celebrity California ownership, especially if verifiable, always helps in selling these old dames. I was in Beverly Hills and Hollywood once on vacation and saw one with a Calif. Personalized plate "ACAD AWD" (Academy Award??) LOL Cars like that are pretty thick on the ground around there.

If it has the original California black plates on it, that is even better.

Another Benz forum was just discussing these the other day, from a buyer's POV (a Bentley, the sister car) and it makes for some hilarious light reading.
Don't miss this:

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/off-topic/1330322-any-bentley-owners-here-advice.html

You'd NEVER want to own one, personally. Trust me on this. Friend of mine had one, it hammered him real bad, real fast. It was a '72 I think. Talk about
the last of the Edwardian motor cars, let me tell you...$400 just to polish the grille....

But I think the *real* reason you want to "see it in person" to sell it is to have some fun driving it around awhile...can't blame you for that, who wouldn't?

Pass me the Grey Poupon mustard!!!!

The actor who played the fugitive on tv was David Janssen....Check out this link : http://www.imdb.com/gallery/mptv/1140/Mptv/1140/2522-39MPTV.jpg.html?hint=nm0418148

That's maybe not Ron's car though. He says it's a '65.

But with the one in the picture with Janssen, the caption says it is a '73.

But something isn't right there.

The YNDxxx series California black plates (I'm a kind of expert on those) were issued in Los Angeles in 1969, so the car therefore would have to be a '69 or older.

Jim B ,
Right ...That's not a 65 but a 1969 Silver Shadow convertible...I think ? Any Rolls Royce folk's here that can verify the year from the grill ? How long could those plates have been used ? Could they have been on that car until the date in the caption indicates...?
