Question Relay & Fuse

I have a 1975 Mercedes 240D Chassis 115, I am restoring. The manual I have doesn't show much.
Could someone help me in locating the fuse or fuses for the glow plugs and the relay? Also what size fuse to use?

For complete restoration I'd go ahead and buy factory shop manual, at least the CD. Or the original owner's manual can be ordered through MB, costs just $20. Primitive 115 diesel startup system is unlike anything else, even though it shares loop style GP's with later 240D up until about 1980. Hell, the glow plug fuse is probly a thick strip of tin the size of fingernail knowing how much amps goes through the system. On my '79 w123 the fuse blew so i replaced it with cutup piece of aluminum soda can. Was firewall mounted in plastic box, screw fitted fuse.

Excellent choice for restoration, am lookin for 115 myself to be next car. Want 4-spd with sunroof, then doesnt matter if its gasoline or diesel. Also noticed the value of em more than doubled in the last year.

She a heavy car, and the body is real straight, not much rust, I just cleaned the trunk area for rust, little rust on the back door bottom other than that she pretty solid car. Interior is is good shape except for the dash has a few cracks. I guess i will have to get a good manual. There are three seperate fuse boxes that hold double fuses plus the main fuse panel.
I guess I will have to track it down with my meter to find the glow plug fuse or relay, I not sure if it even has a relay?

Hi Mike
I have the pull knob type, I did find the double fuse block, they have two 16 amp fuses for the glow plugs, I hope their are enough amps. I waiting for parts so I can't start the engine yet.
I don't think it has a relay?

Are you getting a red glow from the "pepper shaker" when you pull and hold the knob? Are you getting power to the glow plugs?

I don't remember my '73 having any fuses other than the element in the pepper shaker. I believe it picked up power from the starter, went to the pull knob and then directly to the glow plugs.

According to my meter yes, I don't have a battery installed yet and I am waiting on parts. The circuit loops through the double fuse block located in the engine compartment on the drivers side with two 16 amp fuses . I did find a relay under the dash but I haven't tracked this one down yet, it looked a little burned on the cap, I open it up and reset the points on the one side of the relay to where I thought they should be. The points line up now and it test out ok with the meter.
