Brake fluid for fintails

What brake fluid goes into a 1966 230S (fintail, W111)?

The cap says "use only blue brake fluid" (in german) but I don't recall seeing any color coded brake fluids, just DOT-rated..

Thanks in advance!

Any good quality Disc brake fluid will work,Avoid synthetics unless you like pulling your brakes apart to fix them.

Any DOT4 will work. Synthetic brake fluids are fine - they're all synthetic anyway basically. It's silicon DOT5 that you don't want to use.

The blue fluid is probably Ate Blue. I believe Ate is who made the original booster/m.c. right? The recommendation is simply good for business, although I have heard lots of good things about that particular fluid.

Go to Checker and get a couple of quarts of Valvoline synthetic fluid. It exceeds DOT4 and 5. Change all the fluid regularly, the brake parts will last almost forever.

Don't know if it's ATE or not, here's the best picture of it I could find. The stamped markings on the bottom half says something in german (forgot what it was) and T50 or T51 underneath it.
However what make my booster/mc is doesn't really matter, I suspect? But will check out if I can find that blue ATE fluid or the Valvoline stuff mentioned below your post..

Thanks!

(sorry it's very dirty in the picture, taken before I got the engine bay cleaned up)
