1970 Mercedes 250 Hood Latch Cable Ripped From Cabin???
The cable from the hood latch in the cabin of the vehicle is missing. I don't know where it goes into the engine and where it goes through, but there is no evidence of any cable in the cabin of the car. I actually have the ripped out cable, it's about 4 feet long. I just bought the car. Let me know if you know of any way of working around this issue to get the hood open. Thanks a lot guys and gals.

You've got to open the hood to replace the cable. Reach thru the grill with a screw driver and push on the arm that connects to the latch.
I've replaced a coupla cables that were probably thrown into the bushes by an irate owner. |

I feel like I need a schematic of the latch assembly.

You're gonna need to be more adventuresome or quit buying 37 year old cars.

Broken Hood release cable
If the design is anything like a 63 220SEb and there is a small length of cable still attached, you can get to it from underneath on the front left side space of the engine block and pull on it. A small length might even be hanging down where you can see it.

Thanks
Thanks for your replies guys. I actually got a piece of the wire from underneath the hood. It seems really rusty at the end. I'm a little worried about pulling on it and having it break. But, I'll try to lubricate it tonight with a little transmission fluid or something, then trying pulling on the cable wire. If that doesn't work, I'll try pushing on the latch mechanism. Thanks again though.
