Does any one know if a diesel gearbox couples straight onto a m110? I'm still wanting to go manual

Transmission mounting is the same. The trick is to find the M110 flywheel, bellhousing and under dash assembly.

I converted my wife's 1972 250C auto to a manual using a 1969 220D transmission.

That M110 has electronic fuel injectors? It seems to be the early D-jet setup, which was the best there was for that motor family. Be sure to extract the engine wiring harness complete. While a megasquirt might be "better", it's certainly not easier than this.

What about using the diesel flywheel and bits? if I find a 240D or similar...

I looked for the electronic fuel injection because its "easier" to alter/enhance than the mechanical version

I think I may have decided on a paint color - she's going bark blue - almost black. This should look good with lots of chrome... Then I will need a new interior- I would like some CLK front seats - anyone know where I can get some cheap?
My engine management system is arriving soon - there follows a great deal of soldering...
My inter-cooler arrived a while ago, I'll post some pics soon. I think I'm going to use a - please don't shoot me - Toyota 5 speed gearbox, should be easy enough to couple to the M110, and after searching for a while (at the nearby wreckers and such) for a 5 speed Mercedes gearbox, I'm givin up on them. Shoulda gone Bimmer, they have manual cog boxes...
I'll need new window and door rubbers, where can I source these at a reasonable price? Also I want new carpet, should I get "orig" W108 or go custom?

The 240d flywheel, clutch and so forth will bolt up. A 110 clutch and flywheel would be a better match though the flywheel is lighter and the clutch about 1/2" larger diameter.

Omegabenz had a flywheel and clutch available from a 110 engine that he bought from me that he sold to his father. You might ask about that.

Sounds interesting.

Good luck. I am glad you moved away from the holden/ chevy engine.

The 280e motor is very strong, smooth and durable. If you are going to add boost to it you might want a us short block to start with for its lower compression pistons. I have a good used one I would swap with you but shipping would make it impossible, I think.

I think postage will be overwhelmingly expensive... I think tho that the high comp. SE motor should hold up quite well, start off low boost, say 12psi, then work up...
I'm gonna see someone about making a lightened flywheel locally, see what it'll cost, or contact my family in the Netherlands to keep an eye out... anyways, its a while away so I've got time...

How are ya? I'm most of the way through a similar project as you are. I have transplanted the D-jet M110 motor into my 108. If you need any help or advice don't be afraid to ask.
This may be handy, it's a link to the progress of my car.
