Some questions

Hello,

I had a 1967 mercedes benz 200d. Car was completely rusted out. Came with air conditioning in the sheet metal. It has since been hauled away. Dont worry, the car was truly unressurectable. The brakes were seized and it had ants nesting the inside trim.

The reason i bought it was to put its engine (great running condition) in my 1956 cletrac OC-3 bulldozer. I have much experience with diesels I have a 1991 ford f250 n/a. How does one turn the injection pump up on these engines? I am almost half way with the mounting of the engine and starting to address other issues. I want it to have a little more power and smoke at the same time. (yes, i am a little egotistical, but its a tractor) Also, how many litres does this engine have?

Thanks in advance!

It should be a 2 liter. No idea how to turn up the fuel though.

Find a good diesel mechanic that works on tractors and owns a couple of old benzos. They can turn it up for you.

There is a max fuel stop on the back of the injector pump, and also on the anti-backrunning flap in the intake. Benz calls it the max speed adjustment, basically it limits the throttle travel. Do not attempt to remove the vacuum governor mechanism, and do not remove the anti-backrunning flap -- if you stall the engine momentarily, it can start up in reverse. The lack of oil pressure will kill it pretty fast, to say nothing of the strange behavior of the crawler!

More smoke on a Benz will give you LESS power pretty quickly -- this is a prechamber engine, and excess fuel will quench the flame in the prechamber long before you get the piston very far down, unlike a direct injection engine where serious overfueling can raise torque by keeping the fuel going longer.
