1967 250S tachometer questions

Did this model come with a tach? Mine does not have one and I was wondering if it was an option? If it was an option, would the wiring still be behind the dash? I know with some manufacturers just pull in a standard wiring harness regardless of the options chosen.

The only 108 that came with tach was early '70s 300SEL 6.3 - first tach equipped MB sedan if memory serves me well.

MB tachometer lore is confusing. For example they never put em in 4spd 240D's and even my European 116 4-spd 280SEL didnt have one. Yet auto tranny cars of the same era did. But pay attention to shift points on the speedometer of yer 4-spd 108 and you probly wont even need one.

I never understood that. Honda did the same thing in their early 90's Civics. They had a tach in the auto and not the manual.... I wonder what they were thinking since you don't need a tach in an auto.
