Turn Signal Pains

I haven't posted in a good while but this is really getting on my nerves.
My turn signals have quit working automatically. The car is a 1971 220D.
I have to manually flip the lever back and forth for them to work. I can hear the flash click in the hazard switch on the dash, took that apart and cleaned all the contacts.
My question is, is there another dedicated flasher relay somewhere under the dash? Anything else I could look for?

Look under the very left-hand side of the dash. There should be one just above the park brake assembly. I have replaced mine with a standard heavy duty one. I had to install spade connectors on the wires but it works fine. I used a "heavy-duty" flasher because I prefer the distinctive "click" sound it makes. I'm just weird I guess.

It's easy to locate if you turn the signal on and off and follow the "click" sound.

I say "should" because not all of them have it.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I'll look in that area, the only click I could hear was at the hazard switch. I'll go out there now and look for it.

I found the flasher right where you said it would be. I found one of the wires from the connector was broken off. I took the connector apart and re-soldered the wire and put it back together. Same results, probably a bad flasher. I'll have to go get one and change the connector to the spade terminals. Will report back after I've done that.

I got the new flasher installed and that fixed it. I got a 552 one and instead of modifying the wires I just used some un-insulated spade connectors and put them on the new flasher. Took the stock connector apart and "closed up" the little barrels to fit snug on the new connectors, worked great! I still really need to get the stalk switch but that can wait, a little expensive, I can hold it down during the turn.
Thanks again!

You do some judicious filing on the ramps of the combination switch and get it to hold.

Be gentle, a little bit goes a long way!
