It's not a vintage, nor a Mercedes...
But it's built using a lot of Mercedes technology.
And damn, does it handle well. Oh, did I mention it has a Hemi? Thoughts, comments, congrats, criticism, mocking and whatnot all welcome. http://crap.axiasoft.org/06_charger/ Edit: By the way, this is the thread I'll use if I have any issues with the car, where I'll put my thoughts over time etc. I took it out for a fun test drive before purchasing, and let's just say it goes like stink.

They are handsome cars. Before I bought my Magnum I avoided driving the Hemi because I felt I would really really want one and I felt it was too frivolous.
I was very disappointed in the ride quality of my AWD maggie, and fuel economy sucked (I coulda had a Hemi). The shock absorbers were a big disappointment. Overall, the interior was nice, I appreciated the black plastic dash. It reminded me of the old euro dash on mbs. The size was nice (huge!) when hauling things, but the size was a negative too when making parking and such maneuvers. Enjoy. Tom W

Good buy Tom. I think the Magnum is also a fantastic purchase. I would certainly consider one.

Right now, my biggest criticism is that sometimes it is almost impossible to accelerate through a turn (say from a stop sign or traffic light) without some tire squeal. The tires on it ARE hard touring tires, so that probably has a lot to do with it.

the mag tires are thought to be crap by most owners. mine got sawtoothed from braking after pretty low mileage, they were 18".

If the Magnum has brakes like the Charger R/T, then I can see why. 17"s wouldn't fit over these rotors and calipers.
I just can't believe how FLAT the damn thing corners. It's incredible.

Ok, I've had it for 2 weeks now and I can make some observations after a bit of a longer period of ownership.
The Good: - It holds the road extremely well - Its suspension isn't as rough as you'd expect with such a firm-handling car - It's fast. Really fast. A 1/4 mile is 14.1 sec @ 100.9 mph, a 500E is identical (Both stock). - The sound is awesome, and I will never get sick of it (even stock, the growl is great) - It looks sharp - The sound system (stock) is incredible, and the built-in Sirius is great - The interior, although I didn't care for it as much at first, is well laid out and intuitive. The Bad: - The door unlock switch is too close to the window lock button - My bigger friend's head comes close to the ceiling as a passenger. The passenger's seat, not power, can't go down. He'd probably be fine driving (he wishes!) - Even with the ESP "off" it's still 50% on, and there is no STOCK way to 100% disable it. The Ugly: - It's a pig, mainly because it tempts me to drive too fast. We're talking 15-16ish here. Nowhere near the EPA estimates, but if I can start using the cruise I'd probably see an incredible jump. - I know what its top speed is, electronically limited, and I've hit it several times now. In 2 weeks, probably about 5 times. It gets there too quickly. Even with a full car (I'd guess over 1100 lbs between my 200-lb ass and my 3 coworkers). It's ugly because I am going to wind up with one hell of a speeding ticket, I feel. Considering the part I hate the most is knowing I'm doomed to get nailed speeding, I am VERY pleased with this car. I've driven a 500E, this handles only slightly "Softer" but an upgraded swaybar and strut towers would more than help that. The ride is better by far though. And it's still under warranty, which no 500E is. I was tempted to get one for a while but I didn't want a car older than the one I was replacing it with. I've driven or ridden in quite a few newer MBs. This w220 front and w210 rear hybrid vehicle is honestly the best combination and handling possible for a reasonably priced sedan!
