Re-bushing Zenith throttle linkage
I am looking at the McMaster Carr website and these sleeve bearings should do the trick. The measurements are 0.325"+ for the shaft & 0.393" for the linkage arm.
Material Bronze Bronze Type Steel-Backed PTFE-Coated Bronze Type Sleeve Bearings System of Measurement: Metric For Shaft Diameter 8 mm Outside Diameter 10 mm I e-mailed them to see if I can purchase retail. Anyone know if this is a Wholesale only website?

Are you referring to the bellcrank?
The bellcrank is on the side of the carbs and fits on to a bronze post threaded into the side of the middle plate in the carb housing.

Back before the internet was all powerfull, they sold only on invoice, so a credit application and check was neccessary. Now, all you need is a CC. I've been dealing with them for over 25 years, the prices are not the lowest, but they have just about everything. |

BellCrank is correct
The 8mm & 10mm size is very close. Just a little emery cloth work.

Munich, the only problem that I can foresee is that brass post may have worn. This was a problem on my INATS. I was lucky and found the Mercedes repair kit for the front carb which had the replacement brass post.
I would order a smaller inner diameter bushing and turn the post on a lathe (if needed from wear) Just a thought... Last edited by Blue 72 250; 10-25-2007 at 10:15 PM. |

Yes, the brass shaft is 'dish-shaped' slightly, and, it will need to be a smaller diameter to accomadate the 8mm ID (a slip fit).
I have some spare shafts if I mess up.

Success
The 10 mm OD was a firm fit inside the bellcrank.
I chucked the shaft in a drill press, and while it turned, and used a file to slowly remove ~0.02" from the shaft diameter. Checking diameter as I filed, I cut ~0.004" undersize for a slip fit. Works like a charm. BTW, I cut a spare bolt so it was head-less, half-threaded a nut on it, then threaded the throttle shaft to the assembly. (protects the throttle shaft threads)

Thanks for the update. I hope you see an improvement in the INAT's. I am going to do my "fall tweaking" this weekend so the chokes are a little more tight.

Hey Munich,
Any chance you can take a picture? I'd love to see what it looks like...

I actually used 4 bushings, 2 inside the front carb bellcrank & 2 inside the rear carb bellcrank. Each bushing was 8mm ID, 10mm OD and 8mm in length.
$0.42 each at Reid Supply company. http://www.reidsupply.com/results.aspx?N=1004237
